Occam's razor

I think I like illustrating obscure terms and words. Here is the official explanation

While the sketch is eerie and giving me the creeps watching that boy slide down the razor...did you wish to imply that the razor is going to cut-off some unwanted things (like what ?? :-)) ? (well -- i understand occam's 'razor' as a tool used to 'cut-off' non-essential things (like a beard e.g.) or a little more theoretically -- if something, say S, can be explained by ideas A, B, C, D, E and the same S can be explained by ideas A, B, C, E, then we can "cut off" D from the explanation i.e. use the "razor" ruthlessly to cut off things that are not absolutely essential (e.g. 'D' here) to the explanation (i.e. entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity), what remains after such elimination is what is called the 'simplest' explanation (this is quantified by what is called 'kolmogorov complexity')...

btw what does one call these kinds of sketches ? drawings + collage etc ? its good creative stuff on the blog
